Infertility in men and women
Traditionally, people were willing only to consider the possibility of female infertility, but more and more people are realising that male infertility also exists, and that infertility in men and women is a genuine medical issue requiring professional fertility treatment. Usually, when couples experience fertility problems, 40% of cases are due to female infertility, 40% due to male infertility and 10% attributable to unknown causes, so you can see that infertility in men and women occurs with equal regularity.
After 12 months of trying to conceive it’s a good idea to consult your doctor or gyneacologist for a referral for infertility treatments. Tests for fertility problems will be run on both you and your partner, which will then indicate causes for the infertility and further show what fertility services you might need. At BioART Fertility Centre we will look at both your medical histories because they play a huge role in determining the fertility services prescribed. Tests to determine causes of infertility in men and women include previous pregnancies, periods, pelvic pain, children previously fathered, testicular injury, infections and surgery among other factors that could have brought on the need for fertility services.

Councelling for infertility
Having discovered that either you or your partner is infertile or sub-fertile is sure to evoke feelings of blame, shame and anger and place a great deal of stress on your relationship. Councelling for infertility can help you get over the trauma, come to terms with the infertility, and then rationally explore what fertility treatments are available. Going through the process of councelling for infertility will help you work through your emotions and pain, and fertility councelling is important to go through because it then lays the groundwork for fertility treatments which can also present emotional challenges.
Counselling for infertility gives you the safety to explore the emotions you have about experiencing fertility problems with someone neutral and knowledgeable about infertility in men and women, who can then clarify and any areas of concern for you while also helping you look into various fertility treatment options. Fertility treatments
Fertility treatment is a big investment and involves more than just the financial cost of dealing with infertility problems. For most couples experiencing either female or male infertility, the cost of fertility treatment seems phenomenal, but the hope of having their own family is well worth the undertaking. At the BioART Fertility Centre we fully understand how emotionally stressful the process of fertility treatments can be, especially if, after a few cycles, the fertility treatment does not take and conception has not occurred. It may take a while before a couple undergoing fertility treatments becomes pregnant and sometimes, the prospect of the fertility treatments not working for whatever reason may have to be faced.
